About: Wendi

My teaching journey  to South Korea, Mexico and lastly, China taught me many lessons over the past five years.  Most of which were learned directly through the children themselves.  They didn’t know it, but they were as much my teachers, as I was theirs.

Education in South Korea was as important as any cultural achievement  made at anytime in their history. Parents were relentless in their pursuit of knowledge for their kids.  It has something to do with the country not having a social security system for the elderly people.  The kids felt the pressure, but managed to smile, laugh and just be kids at times.  I made sure the parents’ expectations were met, but at the same time, I allowed them to be silly and have fun learning.

My passionate high school students at Centro Escolar Picacho in  Mexico were receptive to their art lessons outside.  We would paint Jackson Pollack style to classic music,  paint would fly. I would just smile as the cleaning people gave me that look.  We learned how to draw Japanese Manga style characters.  Some of the students created professional quality pieces.

Finally, China.  Where red scarves adorned each student sitting below the Chinese flag.  The classes were filled with up to 50 bright-eyed mimicking students.  Their hands would raise like little soldiers, so proud of their ability to converse with me in English.  The classrooms were cold in wintertime because the Chinese would leave the windows and doors open.  They believe this would prevent any sickness in the children.  Less extremes of temperature.

All in all, my teaching experiences have been INCREDIBLE, an adventure of a lifetime.

Thank u Wendi for having the courage to share your experience with the world. The more people that share their experience, the more the victims (of theses crimes against humanity) will realize that they are not alone. I would suspect there are a lot of people out there that are victim to this but will not come forward or speak out, in fear of the labels and ridicule our society in general would put onto them. No one wants to be labelled “insane” and/or be put into a mental hospital, where they are then heavily drugged and sedated making matters only worse. The problem is, the people who do not understand are to quick to pass judgement without really KNOWing..
I truly appreciate your bravery, courage and determination to get your message out there and to help not only the victims but help the people who do not understand… Understand. That this is real, this is happening and it is a crime not only against “human” law but more importantly GOD’s law. I Know where u are coming from and I would like to keep in contact with u. Keep up the good fight and stay strong!!
    Take Care,
    Love and Peace.
